Fraunhofer IZI-BB specializes in analytical and biotechnology solutions for the medical, animal health, nutrition, cosmetics, and environmental sectors. Key research areas include sampling and sample preparation, the development of molecular recognition elements, and the engineering of tailor-made materials for analytical applications. In addition, Fraunhofer IZI-BB advances the automation of these technologies to provide reliable and easily integrable process workflows for industrial partners. Other areas of focus include the production of functional and difficult-to-express proteins through cell-free protein synthesis as well as methods for isolating, handling, and manipulating cells and biomolecules.
