Mittweida University of Applied Sciences has been a research and transfer-oriented university of applied sciences in Central Saxony since 1867. More than 6,200 students study here in five faculties.
We train biotechnologists for the job market. Our research makes genomic diagnostic methods available to industry. To this end, we cooperate with fruit-growing farms, commercial and private beekeepers, dog breeders and research institutions. Varroa resistance breeding, heavy metal detoxification with algae, canine selection markers, conversion of CO emissions from industrial processes to platform chemicals and wild bee health in agricultural landscapes are current research priorities.
