Technologies of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) enable ubiquitous networking of even the smallest everyday things, which can be equipped with sensors, actuators, and analytical functions. The Fraunhofer IPA is developing pragmatic IoT applications for the laboratory aiming to advance the digitization of laboratory work and, thus, moving closer towards the dream of the "Laboratory 4.0". The collaboration with SMEs is of particular interest here in order to create novel economic potential for Germany as a business location. The Fraunhofer IPA shows selected use cases and demonstrators, based on the state of development of ongoing research-and-development projects.
