Thermo Fisher Scientific has released a series of tribo-rheometry accessories to enhance the capabilities of Thermo Scientific™ HAAKE™ MARS™ Rheometers. The accessories provide different tribo-rheometry measuring solutions for various applications such as the determination of friction, lubrication, or wear across a wide range of industries from food to cosmetics to lubricants.

The tribo-rheometry accessories for the HAAKE MARS Rheometers deliver multiple advantages:

A comprehensive selection of different contact parts allowing for numerous geometry combinations. The accessories’ ‘’Connect Assist’’ functionality provides quick coupling and automatic recognition of the measuring geometry. Switching between different configurations is quick and easy. Temperature control options enable tribological tests over a wide temperature range.

Upper surface contacts (balls) with diameters of ½" or ¼" made of steel, stainless steel, ceramic, or glass are available. The lower attachment can be equipped with contact surfaces in the shape of balls, plates, or discs made of various materials including crosslinked polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for performing soft-tribological measurements on less firm samples.

Tribological tests can be employed to determine the lubrication properties of food products, to assess lubricants and greases, or to evaluate and optimize cosmetic products to ensure that any of these items meet desired standards of texture, application, and performance. The new series of tribo-rheometry accessories makes these important measurements easy to perform.
