Certified reference materials - the truth in a bottle

Reliable measurements are necessary for the implementation of more than half of all European Union (EU) legislation. Therefore, one of the core activities of the Joint Research Centre (JRC), the European Commission's science and knowledge service, is to ensure the quality of measurements that underpin European policies. To his end, the JRC produces certified reference materials for food analysis, laboratory medicine, environmental monitoring, industrial applications and nuclear safeguards and distributes these CRMs to laboratories worldwide.
The JRC holds accreditation to ISO 17034 (reference material production), ISO 17043 (proficiency testing) and ISO/IEC 17025 (testing).
